They just don’t make things like they used to.

The walls and intricate stone carvings within the Dendera temple were defaced by invading Roman’s — who also set up their own churches right next to the Egyptian temples, which was absolutely heart breaking to imagine such beauty being commandeered by others not from those lands.

But, it was a deeper recognition that there are colonisers everywhere, and that the entire world has a history of one others sacred being taken by another and annihilated due to different beliefs, but more than anything power and control.

True love is loving one another through our differences, and respecting and honouring the differences too — finding a deep and sturdy balance and harmony in the seemingly opposing forces.

One thing for certain in this world is that there are many different people, with many different ways.

We will never be able to change and homogenise that.

I acknowledge the Arrente People as the traditional custodians of the lands where I live, learn and work.

I honour and pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging - holding in deep reverence their continued connection to the land, waters and community.

I acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.

AUSTRALIA WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE ABORIGINAL LAND.
